1-Where do you call home? My flat in Paris where I live and work.
2) How would you describe Pagnoux Sandrine? A happy Parisian girl passionate about her work. Who loves to wear jeans, boots and t-shirt. Who loves to ride her motorbike, to play with her cat and run with her dog. Who loves magazines, music, art books, pop and punk culture.
3-Did you attend an art school? if yes, which one? I studied basic technics in graphic school. I needed the computer technology to create the digital collages I had in mind.
4-How long have you been making art and how did it start? After the school was finished I spent a lot of time working in a very personal way searching for my own technic using different programs. After a year I submitted my portfolio to magazines and ads agencies, soon after I started getting commercial work. This was 2006 and here we are.
5-What does Pagnoux dream about? I dream about having fun and being free. Sometimes I dream about my projects surprising me in new ways and always stay passionate.
6-Do you remember the first piece of art that captured your imagination?
When I was a kid I visited the Dali museum in Figueres. I was amazed by the sofa mouth and the Cadillac. This was very far from classical museum I usually had seen.
7-Do you draw a line between art and graphic design or is it all the same? Graphic design is a sort of art.
8-Do you create in digital format or on canvas? All final artworks are always in digital format for the moment.
9-What do you think of print going obsolete? Prints will never been obsolete but it’s very sad to see influential magazine like « Interview” is no longer published. A lot of publications exist now only online. That’s really scary for a paper magazine’s lover like me. I am afraid to see creative and artistic magazines disappear.
10-Can you give me a name of a hero and how they have affected you as an artist? Heroes are not artists but heroes affect artists.
11-How do you define success? Success is when you receive a lot of interesting and exciting proposals that you never imagined.
12-What would you imagine your last words to be? I don’t want to imagine that!
13-If you could have dinner with 3 artists living/dead who would be at your table? There’d be more participants. At my table : David Bowie, Egon Schiele, Martin Scorsese, Alison Mosshart, Jean Paul Belmondo, Amy Winehouse, Marianne Faithfull, Frida Kahlo and a translator !
14-Three things you can’t live without in your studio? My pets (my cat Misia and my dog Pippa), my computer and my material to draw (paper/pencils).
15-Do you have a place/person/thing that you visit for inspiration? I love to look at books and magazines. So I love to visit discount shop with old magazines, art books about painters, graphic designers, fashion, pop and punk culture.
